-Vintage green honeycomb Georgian lowball glasses are highly collectible staples of mid-century American glassware, produced primarily between the 1940s and 1970s. While modern collectors often call the style "Honeycomb" or "Thumbprint," its official historical name is Georgian, an aesthetic resurrected by mid-century manufacturers using pressed glass molds to mass-produce a look that originally required painstaking 19th-century hand-cutting. Identifying specific makers can be difficult because major companies used nearly identical molds, but Anchor Hocking and Viking Glass were the two primary giants behind these pieces. Anchor Hocking officially marketed the pattern as "Honeycomb" from the late 1940s through the 1960s, offering them in their famous "Forest Green" and "Avocado Green" lines. Meanwhile, Viking Glass introduced its "Georgian" line in 1953, specializing in vibrant art glass and crafting the tumblers with a signature high-gloss finish in "Emerald Green." We have here, one of each!
