- These slender, tapered treasures primarily date from the 1850s to the 1920s. They weren't just pretty decor—they were the everyday workhorses for 19th-century medicines, chemical tonics, and perfumes.
- The "Accidental" Color: That gorgeous aqua green hue wasn't intentional! It came from natural iron impurities in local sand. Because clearing out these impurities was expensive, aqua became the global standard for cheap, everyday bottles. The slender, tapered shape made it easy to pour out precise, drop-by-drop doses of apothecary medicines and extracts. Built-In Warnings: Some of these narrow bottles featured sharp ridges or ribs so people could identify dangerous chemicals by touch alone in dark, candlelit rooms.
