- Steeped in local history, the Ozaukee Springs Bottling Company of Port Washington, Wisconsin, was a fixture of regional beverage production for over half a century. While official print records document its presence by 1935, antique wooden crates bearing pre-1920s Illinois Glass Co. maker's marks reveal that its roots stretch back to the early 1920s. Operating out of its facility at 312 Oakland Avenue, the company became well-known for bottling its own sodas and distributing famous regional favorites, including Fox Head “400” Beer from Waukesha. Under the long-time management of proprietor Harry Hohn (frequently spelled Kohn), the business served the community for decades until winding down operations in the 1970s. The company marked the end of an era in April 1973, when Kohn donated 19,000 remaining glass soda bottles to a local youth coalition recycling drive, effectively closing the chapter on a beloved piece of Ozaukee County's industrial heritage.
